We can talk about what schools should or shouldn't all day long and feel honoured, but they aren't going to change the system.

Schools, colleges, and universities will remain as they are, and as much as I want them to be the way you described, I don't mind the other way around either.

As much as we don't wanna accept this: most developers and engineers are there for the money. And this applies to most fields.

Unfortunately, the count of curious minds are less than the ones chasing cash for reasons that we priveleged may not understand. I completely respect that.

The minority decides the game for the majority. Colleges don't want to bet on the minority because they are a business at the end of the day.
